SIEC Highlights from Shana

June 24, 2021

As the 2020-2021 school year wraps up for the SIEC team, our team would like to share some of our standout moments from this year’s career discovery events.

Today, Shana shares her highlight of the 2021 Contact Conference.

I was happy that the Contact Conference was a go for 2021 since we had to cancel it in 2020, but I was also very nervous because this was our first virtual conference. The SIEC has hosted over 15 live conferences, so it ran like a well-oiled machine.  A virtual conference with over 42 presenters was a whole new ball game for us!  We knew that the technology aspect was either going to make or break the event, so we enlisted the help of Ethical Digital, an event management company, to help with this piece.

Over the course of the 2-day event, we had 4 keynote speakers and 24 sessions for our attendees to choose from. The SIEC office, aka Conference Headquarters, was buzzing the whole time. It felt great to provide the people of Saskatchewan with the opportunity to learn from career development experts, even if it was online. For some, the conference was more accessible this year due to the reduced registration fees and no travel costs!

The SIEC team and our conference committee were very pleased with how the event went, but the feedback from our attendees, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors simply reiterated that the conference was a huge success. Some even said that it was the best virtual event that they attended all year! This made all of the time and effort worth it, and I look forward to seeing what Contact 2022 will bring! Mark your calendar – May 3rd & 4th, 2022.
