Dr. Felstrom
Dr. Felstrom head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Royal University Hospital, presents on ADHD for Mental Illness Awareness week 2023. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most common diagnoses for children and youth. Dr. Felstrom shares information on what is normal in regards to difficulties with paying attention and when attention difficulties warrant reaching out for help from a medical professional. As well, she explains how many symptoms around attention issues can be managed by following good health practices.
Brigette is a proud member of Cote First Nation, and is the first Indigenous woman to play on the Canadian Women’s Olympic hockey team, the first Indigenous woman to scout for an NHL team and a role model for today’s youth. Brigette shares her story of dedication and passion for hockey as well as the obstacles she has overcome, including racism, gender discrimination and her challenges with mental health and addiction. Her story of resilience, hard work and passion inspires our youth.
Darin Bulmer is a wellness advocate with over 25 years of experience in strength training and a background in mental health and addictions. Darin shares his personal journey about his experience with mental illness, addiction, and the transformative power of exercise and therapy. Darin shares how lifestyle changes helped him to overcome obstacles, improve his mental health, and find fulfilment.
