Spotlight on Careers
Spotlight on Careers events provides secondary students with the opportunity to explore potential future career paths by learning about post-secondary opportunities, interacting with industry professionals, and gaining hands-on experiences with each month focusing on a different sector.
February focuses on Business and Entrepreneurship:
Spotlight on Business and Entrepreneurship – Wednesday, February 14 (9:00 am – 3:00 pm)
- Explore programs at Edwards School of Business and Saskatchewan Polytechnic while learning from post-secondary students, faculty, and local entrepreneurs.
- Registration Deadline for individual students: Wednesday, February 7. Teachers of Entrepreneurship, Accounting, and Financial Literacy courses are invited to apply to bring their classes by January 26.
- New digital resources will feature five local entrepreneurs in new Career Talks.
March will focus on the Skilled Trades sector.
Skills Bootcamps
Skills Bootcamps offer students in grades 10 through 12 the opportunity to gain hands-on skill development and career training while working alongside industry professionals.

SaskMoney
SaskMoney is designed to help teachers working with the financial literacy curriculum. Resources, activities, and events are shared on the site, and class webinars and professional development opportunities are also available.
- The Semester 1 deadline for the new Student SaskMoneyMinute contest is on January 26. Grade 10-12 students are tasked with creating a one-minute video teaching their peers about a healthy financial habit. Visit SaskMoney.ca/SSMM for details.
Employability
employABILITY helps students prepare for a successful job search and career launch.
- Bookings for Semester 2 class workshops are open. Sessions on resumé creation, job interviews, and employability skills are perfect for ELA 20, CWEx, Career Education 9, and other PAA courses. Email [email protected] to book a session.
mind over matters
Mind Over Matters evolved as a response to the increased need for mental health education in schools. Our mental health education team supports educators, students, and parents with resources, events, workshops, and professional development.

Saskatchewan youth internship program
Saskatchewan Youth Internship Program offers students an opportunity to gain real-world work experience through a 6-week paid internship program focused on the skilled trades.
Students can earn:
- Competitive industry wages
- Hours toward an apprenticeship
- High school apprenticeship credits
If a student currently has a job in the skilled trades, the student and company can be added to the program. Stay tuned for more details
safety @ work
Safety @ Work in partnership with various workplace safety associations, the SIEC offers safety training certification to youth prior to entering the workplace. This includes construction, tourism, and healthcare sector safety training.
