SASKATOON INDUSTRY EDUCATION COUNCIL

Saskcode Strikes Back

October 5, 2020

We are very excited to resume our robot kit bookings and professional development (PD) sessions.  We have made a few changes to address recent challenges but we are dedicated to spreading robots across this great province in every school and every grade!  With the help of all the passionate and dedicated educators, our dream is to have a new generation of robot lovers that are creative problem solvers, designers and innovators.  The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) skills  students learn will be well suited to a changing job market and these students will contribute to Saskatchewan’s tradition of excellence and trail blazing.

For those that are unfamiliar to the Saskcode program, we provide PD in robotics to teachers from grades K-12.  Teachers within the Saskatoon and Regina area can borrow grade appropriate robotics kits for use in their classroom.  Our website (saskcode.ca) has curriculum linked activities that teachers can use across a wide spectrum of subjects from dance, to music, to science and math.  Once students reach grade 7, they will be enthusiastic to take on the newly released Saskatchewan Robotics curriculum which we are very excited about.  Saskcode robotics kits are currently in 31 school divisions and tribal councils across the province.  Our lessons and kits have been put together by experienced teachers and we are standing by to answer questions and support your robot adventures.

Recent changes to our program include:

  • Individualized student kits (one robot/student)
  • Virtual PD for teachers. Teachers will be able to book a session and receive a robot in the mail prior to use in the session.  Teachers can keep the Mousebot, Edison and Arduino kits.
  • Inclusion of French activities on our site(saskcode.ca)

PD sessions include:

  • Robot Mouse
  • Ozobot
  • Edison
  • Arduino
  • Arduino robot car

Go to saskcode.ca to find a PD that works for you

That is it for now.  Contact us at [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions.  Until next time, enjoy our mousebot promo video.
